CEREC Single Visit Restorations

For those of you who have ever had a crown, remember how we prepped your tooth and then put gaggy material in your mouth to take an impression.  We would then spend a great deal of time making a temporary that we would have to cement on with "temporary" cement.  You were to wear this temporary for at least 2 weeks while the permanent crown was being made in a dental lab.  Because of the "temporary" cement, we would often times see you on several occasions in order to re-cement our temporary crown.  Finally the day would come that you were scheduled to have your permanent crown cemented.  You would have to be numb again in order to remove the temporary and as long as color and fit were okay, we would then cement your crown to your natural tooth.

The Cerec has changed all of the above.  We now prep your tooth, take images of the prepped tooth that go into the computer where your permanent crown is designed.  The image is then sent wirelessly to a milling machine that mills the final restoration.  While it is being milled, we can either do more fillings for you, or you can relax with a magazine. The milling time is approximately 8 to 15 minutes.  When the restoration is finished being milled, we try it on your tooth and make any necessary adjustments.  It is then polished and  bonded to your tooth.  You go home with your final restoration that very day!!!

You can just imagine why this is becoming many of our patients favorite technology.
